There are 3 ways to find tools in the game:

1. In the water wells scattered across the islands. You need to clear the clouds to see the wells. You can buy additional wells at the Market under Buildings tab. Please, note that to build a new well you need items that you can get by chopping objects. It is a good idea to get the next well built before the old one expires, so that you don’t get stuck without tools.

2. You can buy tools (Super-swords) with Zombucks.

3. As you chop objects you will get some tools, too.
