To open a golden statue, tap the icon above it (see the screenshot), and you'll get the rewards. Animals turn into golden statues after they've been fed a certain number of times (a chicken eats 16 times, and a cow eats 24 times).
If the game points at a regular, not golden, animal, simply wait until it transforms. Tap an animal to see the number of feedings left.
